Tiger Steps Out of Tadoba Reserve in Search of Water

Chandrapur: As summer temperatures rise, water shortage is affecting not just people but also wildlife. Recently, a tiger from Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra was seen leaving its forest habitat to look for water.

The tiger crossed the Sitarampeth-Moharli road, causing vehicles to stop as drivers watched in amazement. This rare moment was captured by wildlife photographer Deep Kathikar. Despite the reserve having natural and man-made waterholes, the extreme heat is forcing tigers to wander beyond their usual areas in search of water.

Tigers Roaming Beyond the Reserve

Tadoba-Andhari is Maharashtra’s largest tiger reserve, home to many tigers in both core and buffer zones. Popular tigers like “Chhota Matka” and “Nayan Tara” are often spotted in buffer areas and have become favorites among wildlife lovers.

However, tiger sightings outside the reserve are increasing. Locals frequently report seeing tigers on roads and near villages.

Two days ago, Deep Kathikar saw a tiger calmly crossing the road, glancing at vehicles before vanishing into the forest. Such incidents show the growing challenges of wildlife conservation as temperatures continue to rise.

More Human-Tiger Interactions

The Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve attracts thousands of tourists every year, as many visit to see these majestic animals. However, as the tiger population grows, encounters with humans are becoming more common, especially in villages near the reserve.

Wildlife experts stress the need for better conservation efforts to ensure both tigers and humans can coexist safely in this changing environment. 🐅🌿
