WhatsApp to Launch Message Summaries and Stronger Privacy Controls
WhatsApp is preparing to release a helpful new feature called Message Summarization, which will make it easier for users to quickly understand long or busy messages, especially in group chats. Powered by Meta AI, this tool will give a short summary of the main points, so you don’t have to scroll through every single word.
According to WABetaInfo, this feature was seen in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.25.15.12 and is currently being tested. Once available, you’ll be able to tap and see key highlights of personal messages, group chats, or channel updates — perfect for keeping up when there’s too much going on.

At the same time, WhatsApp is rolling out a major privacy upgrade called Advanced Chat Privacy. With this new setting, senders can decide if their messages can be downloaded or exported, helping prevent sensitive chats from being shared or misused outside the conversation.
WhatsApp explained, “This feature ensures that what’s said in a group, stays in the group,” showing its commitment to protecting user privacy.
Here’s what’s coming in the update:
✅ Message Summaries — Quick summaries in chats, groups, and channels using Meta AI
✅ Export Restrictions — Senders can block others from exporting or downloading messages
✅ Mention Restrictions — Users won’t be able to tag Meta AI or ask it questions in restricted chats
✅ Privacy Boost — Adds to existing tools like chat lock, disappearing messages, and encryption
✅ Screenshots — Still allowed for now, but future updates may bring screenshot limits
These updates are rolling out gradually to all users on the latest WhatsApp version, with more improvements expected soon.
