Kannur, Oct 20: All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary K C Venugopal on Thursday dubbed as “highly disappointing” the Indian government’s stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.
He said India must lead efforts to bring peace and provide relief to the affected people and added that the Union government should express its views on this matter with dignity and respect, “just like we did in the past years during the conflict between Israel and Palestinians”
Venugopal wrote on his Facebook page in Malayalam: “India’s current stance on the current aggression and counter-aggression of Palestinian and Israelis is far from sufficient to end the war”. He also said the nations take India’s stance seriously on this issue, but now it (the world) will be surprised to see this current poor stance.
India has been with Palestine since time immemorial. However, though India has expressed its support for the struggle for the rights of the Palestinians, India has “strongly condemned” any attack from Israel or Palestine, he added.
