Rajinikanth Expresses Concern Over Youth Losing Touch With Indian Culture
Chennai, May 1, 2025: Veteran actor Rajinikanth has voiced his concern over a widening gap between Indian youth and their cultural roots. Speaking via video at a cultural event in Chennai, organized by his wife Latha Rajinikanth, the superstar highlighted the irony of Westerners embracing Indian traditions, while many Indian youngsters seem eager to adopt Western lifestyles.
“In this era dominated by mobile phones, it’s not just the youth—even adults are drifting away from our heritage and values,” Rajinikanth noted, according to a report by Nakkheeran. “There’s a tendency to blindly imitate Western habits, without appreciating the depth and wisdom of our own culture.”
He pointed out that, in contrast, Westerners are increasingly drawn to Indian practices such as yoga, meditation, and holistic healing, often traveling to India in search of inner peace and well-being.
Rajinikanth praised Latha Rajinikanth’s dedication to promoting Indian traditions and wished her continued success in her cultural initiatives.
Upcoming Projects
On the professional front, Rajinikanth’s recent films have met with varied responses. His cameo in the 2024 sports drama Lal Salaam, directed by his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth, fell short at the box office. His action film Vettaiyan, where he played a no-nonsense police officer, also garnered lukewarm reactions.
Nevertheless, anticipation is building for his upcoming ventures. He will next star in Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, set to hit theaters on August 14, clashing with War 2 featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR. Additionally, Rajinikanth has signed on for Jailer 2, the sequel to his 2023 blockbuster Jailer. The film will bring back Ramya Krishnan and include cameo appearances by stars like Balakrishna, Mohanlal, and Shiva Rajkumar.
