Nagpur, Dec 8 – Giving clarification on release of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stressed on Thursday in the Assembly that the state was not among top five states in any crimes vis-a-vis the state’s population and the crime rate in the said report.
Replying to Opposition’s broadside on the state government for short duration of the winter session of the state Legislature, he said that the focus of this session is mainly to draw attention to burning issues of Vidarbha and Marathwada, and to give justice to the farmers and citizens alike.
Training his guns on the Opposition, he claimed that since they are not interested in discussing these issues, they boycotted the customary tea party on Wednesday.
He alleged that there was no mention of Vidarbha and Marathwada in the Opposition’s letter and took a potshot at the Opposition saying that they may have lost their senses following the defeat in assembly elections in three states.
“We will give justice for Vidarbha and Marathwada through this session,” the DyCM assured.
The duration of the session will be decided after looking at the remaining work, he said.
The session will be extended further if necessary, Fadnavis added.
