The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, a major infrastructure project, will soon make traveling between Delhi and Dehradun much faster. The 210-kilometre expressway will reduce the current 6.5-hour journey to just 2.5 hours and is expected to be fully operational by February 2025. Route Details
The expressway is part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, a national project to improve road connectivity. It starts at the Akshardham Temple in Delhi and passes through key districts like Baghpat, Shamli, and Saharanpur before reaching Dehradun in Uttarakhand.
The Construction is Divided into Four Phases:
- Phase 1:
- Route: Akshardham Temple (Delhi) to Baghpat (Uttar Pradesh)
- Length: 32 km
- Status: Operational
- Phase 2:
- Route: Baghpat to Saharanpur
- Length: 118 km
- Status: Under construction (some sections already in use)
- Phase 3:
- Route: Saharanpur to Ganeshpur
- Length: 40 km
- Status: Under construction
- Phase 4:
- Route: Rajaji National Park to Dehradun
- Length: 20 km
- Special Feature: Includes a 12-km elevated wildlife corridor and a 340-meter tunnel

Toll System
The expressway will use a distance-based toll system, so travelers will only pay for the distance they cover. However, the first 18 km (from Akshardham Temple to Loni) will remain toll-free. Specific toll prices have not yet been announced.
