COVID-19: Maharashtra Records 69 New Cases, Surveillance Stepped Up
Mumbai, May 26 — Maharashtra has reported 69 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in 2025 to 369, according to a state health department bulletin released on Monday. Of these, 278 cases remain active and are currently under observation.
Mumbai continues to report the highest number of cases, with 37 new infections detected, followed by Thane (12), Navi Mumbai (7), Pune (3), Latur (1), Raigad (1), and Kolhapur (1). Since January, 7,830 samples have been tested across the state, with 285 patients recovering and four confirmed COVID-related deaths.
Health officials noted that while overall case numbers remain relatively low, enhanced surveillance and testing measures have been implemented to curb any potential surge.
In Pune, two cases were identified on Sunday, with an additional case reported on Monday under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). All three patients exhibited mild symptoms and did not require hospitalization.
Authorities have reiterated the importance of COVID-appropriate behaviour, especially among senior citizens and individuals with pre-existing health conditions. Targeted testing and cluster monitoring efforts continue across the state to ensure timely detection and containment.
