Complaint Against Vijay Over Iftar Event; Actor Focuses on Final Film Jana Nayagan
A complaint has been filed with the Chennai Police Commissioner against actor and politician Vijay. The Tamil Nadu Sunnath Jamaat accused him of disrespecting Muslims during a recent Iftar event. The group was upset that people unrelated to the religious gathering, including some they labeled as “drunkards and rowdies,” were present. They believe this disrespected the occasion’s religious importance.
The Jamaat stated that instead of spreading goodwill, the event hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community. They also criticized Vijay for not apologizing.
According to News 18, the Jamaat pointed out past instances of poor event planning, such as Vijay’s first political state conference in Vikravandi, where people suffered due to dehydration. They claim similar mismanagement happened at the Iftar event. They also accused Vijay’s security team of being insensitive to local customs. The group stressed that legal action is needed to prevent such issues in the future and clarified that their complaint was not for publicity but to ensure respect at future events.
Vijay’s Final Film Jana Nayagan
Amid this controversy, Vijay remains focused on his upcoming movie Jana Nayagan (which means “Hero of the People”), directed by H. Vinoth. This political action thriller is special as it is Vijay’s 69th and final film before he fully enters politics.
The film stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead, while Bollywood actor Bobby Deol plays the villain. Other actors in key roles include Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, Monisha Blessy, and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. Filming took place in Chennai and Payanoor, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the music, Sathyan Sooryan handling cinematography, and Pradeep E. Ragav editing.
Vijay’s Previous Film GOAT
Before Jana Nayagan, Vijay starred in GOAT, an action film. Reviews mentioned that while the action scenes were good, the music and cinematography were average. A song featuring Trisha was also criticized. The film relied heavily on special effects, especially in outdoor scenes.
GOAT was mainly for Vijay’s die-hard fans, packed with mass appeal and fan moments. However, for general audiences, it felt like just an average film. Despite being his 68th movie in a 32-year career, GOAT didn’t fully live up to the title “Greatest of All Time.”
Jana Nayagan is set to release on January 14, 2026, and is expected to be a significant film in Vijay’s career.
