New Delhi, May 21, 2025 — The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the revised schedule and venues for the IPL 2025 playoffs, setting the stage for an exciting finish to the tournament. The playoffs will begin on May 29, with the final match scheduled for June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh) will host the first two playoff matches. The Qualifier 1, featuring the top two teams from the league stage, will take place on Thursday, May 29. This will be followed by the Eliminator on Friday, May 30, which will see the third and fourth-placed teams battle for survival.

Following these matches, the tournament will move to Ahmedabad. The Narendra Modi Stadium will host the Qualifier 2 on Sunday, June 1, where the loser of Qualifier 1 will take on the winner of the Eliminator. The grand final will be held at the same venue on Tuesday, June 3, marking the conclusion of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League.

BCCI honorary secretary Devajit Saikia expressed enthusiasm about the playoff phase, saying, “After 70 high-energy league matches, we now move into the most thrilling stage of the season. Ahmedabad, with its world-class stadium and passionate cricket fans, is the ideal venue for the IPL 2025 finale.”

Originally, Hyderabad and Kolkata were set to host the playoff fixtures. However, the IPL Governing Council made changes following a mid-season suspension caused by an India-Pakistan military standoff. The revised schedule takes into account weather concerns and logistical considerations.

In a related update, the May 23 league match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) has been shifted from Bengaluru to Lucknow, due to persistent rain in the city. The new venue for the match is the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

Taking into account the weather disruptions this season, the BCCI has also extended the extra time allowance for all matches. While previously limited to playoff games, league matches will now also have a 120-minute extension window, doubling the earlier one-hour buffer.
