Ruchi Gujjar Makes Patriotic Statement at Cannes with Traditional Rajasthani Look and Modi-Inspired Necklace
Cannes, May 21, 2025 — Indian actress and Miss Haryana 2023 Ruchi Gujjar made a striking appearance at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, turning heads with her traditional attire and a bold tribute to Indian leadership.
While several Bollywood celebrities dazzled on the red carpet, it was Ruchi’s unique ensemble that grabbed global attention. Dressed in a traditional Rajasthani bridal lehenga, Gujjar made a statement not just through fashion, but also patriotism.
Her outfit, designed by Roopa Sharma, featured a golden lehenga richly adorned with mirror work, gota patti, and intricate embroidery. A bandhani dupatta with zardozi and additional gota patti work completed the look. Speaking about her attire, Ruchi said, “Wearing this dupatta felt like I was wrapping myself in the essence of Rajasthan’s spirit.”
However, the highlight of her appearance was a custom necklace featuring three miniature portraits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The necklace, Ruchi said, was not just a fashion accessory, but a symbol of national pride.
“This necklace represents more than just beauty; it stands for strength, vision, and India’s growing influence on the global stage,” Ruchi stated. “I wore it at Cannes to honor Prime Minister Modi, who has elevated India’s image worldwide.”
She further added, “I wanted to carry that pride with me, not just as a woman from Rajasthan but as an Indian representing our country on an international platform.”
A Journey Against the Odds
In a previous interview with BollywoodMDB, Ruchi shared details of her personal journey from Rajasthan to the film industry. Coming from a Gujjar family, where women are rarely encouraged to pursue acting careers, she faced several hurdles.
“Changing mindsets was not easy,” she revealed. “I want to be an inspiration in my community—a woman who broke boundaries. I’m proud to be the first from my community to reach this point in the industry.”
Ruchi also mentioned the unwavering support of her father and how her mother’s initial concerns eventually turned into pride. “My mother was worried when I moved to Mumbai, but now she’s proud of what I’ve achieved. My father has supported me from the very beginning,” she said.
Looking Ahead
With growing recognition, Ruchi is now eyeing opportunities in South Indian cinema. “It has a massive fan base, and I’d love to be part of it,” she said.
