Srinagar, Nov 30 – Academic activities have been suspended on Thursday at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) and Islamia college in Srinagar to prevent protests over a derogatory social media post, officials said.
They said all the academic activities at NIT Srinagar and Islamia College of Science and Commerce Hawal were suspended today.
“Classwork of all semesters and internal examination, including T-series shall remain off and will be rescheduled from December 1,” a notice issued by Islamia College Hawal read.
It added that backlog examinations of the third semester shall be conducted as per schedule.
While the students of NIT staged a protest on Tuesday, the students of Islamia College in old Srinagar took out a demonstration on Wednesday demanding action against the non local student over an alleged “derogatory” social media post.
J&K Police had already filed a case against the student for promoting religious enmity between the communities.
