New Delhi, Oct 20: In a significant event held at Gandhi Smriti, the book launch of veteran journalist Ashok Tandon’s “The Reverse Swing: Colonialism to Cooperation” took place on Wednesday. Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, graced the occasion.

The book delves into the journey of New India (Naya Bharat), highlighting its rise to glory while leaving behind the unfortunate and painful memories of foreign subjugation spanning several centuries.

Hardeep Singh Puri, while addressing the gathering, remarked, “The book covers several centuries of India-UK relationship, India’s colonial past, her confident resurgence and the current journey through the Amrit Kaal.” He also shared nostalgic moments, recalling his association with Ashok Tandon.

Author Ashok Tandon’s work focuses on documenting historical events and transformations in Indo-UK relations since independence. The purpose is not to reopen wounds of colonial rule but to enlighten present generations, especially the vast Indian diaspora, about India’s pre-independence struggles and its subsequent achievements. India has emerged as the world’s fifth-largest economy, earning a prideful place in the comity of nations.

The book extensively covers Indo-UK cooperation in economic, diplomatic, defense production, and cultural fields, providing readers with insights into the significant milestones in the bilateral relationship.
