Pune, December 9 — A horrifying incident unfolded in Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune, as a massive fire erupted in a sparkling candle manufacturing unit, resulting in the loss of at least seven lives, according to local police.

The tragic event occurred at approximately 2:45 pm, as confirmed by Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal commissioner Shekhar Singh. Firefighters, supported by local authorities, worked tirelessly to bring the flames under control after several hours of intense efforts.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be determined, but the police have reached the scene, and ongoing rescue operations aim to provide assistance and support to those affected by the incident. Reports indicate that several workers sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to the government-run YCM Hospital for medical care.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed condolences and announced a financial assistance package of five lakh rupees for the families of the deceased. In response to the gravity of the situation, the chief minister has also instructed that the government will bear the expenses for the treatment of the injured individuals.
