Nashik, Dec 19 – Four people, including a woman and a two-year-old baby, died on the spot, and one woman was injured after a speeding Eicher Tempo overturned on a Toyota car moving in front of it.
The accident took place on the Pune-Nashik highway at Chandnapuri Shiwar in Sangamner taluka in Ahmednagar district in the morning on Monday.
According to police, the deceased have been identified as Sunil Dinkar Dharankar (65, resident of Subhash Road, Akole), Asha Dharankar ((42) Ojaswi Dharankar (2 years old), and Abhay Visaal (resident of Akole). While Asmita Abhay Visaal (Rest. Akole) has been injured,.
Sunil Dharankar, along with his family, was coming from Pune to Akole in a Toyota Etos car.
Meanwhile, after reaching Chandanapuri Shivar, Eicher, who was travelling from Pune towards Nashik, suddenly ran into a Toyota car running in front and overturned.
Due to this, Sunil Dinkar Dharankar (65, a resident of Subhash Road, Akole), Asha Dharankar, Ojaswi Dharankar, and Abhay Visal were trapped under the car.
The traffic stopped on both sides of the road.
The villagers of Chandnapuri rushed towards the spot as the screaming started.
Attempts were being made to take the injured out of the car.
The injured in the car were screaming. Villagers tried to pull out the people from the car, but it was difficult to pull out even one as the car was under the tempo.
Locals called a hydraulic crane to help pull the tempo aside. Then the injured were taken out of the car.
The injured in the car were shifted to a private hospital in Sangamner in different ambulances. But medical officials said he died before treatment. Meanwhile, Asmita Visal escaped the accident and was admitted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Sub Divisional Police Officer Somnath Waghchoure, Taluka Police Inspector Dhumne, and Highway Police rushed to the spot as soon as they got information about the accident.
