Tragic Accident Claims Life of Kolhapur Builder’s Son on Azra-Amboli Highway
A devastating accident on the Azra-Amboli highway claimed the life of 23-year-old Siddhesh Redekar, son of well-known Kolhapur builder Vilas Redekar, in the early hours of Sunday. The incident has left the local community in shock, especially with the revelation that Siddhesh’s helmet-mounted camera captured the final moments leading up to the fatal crash.
Siddhesh, a passionate biker and architecture student, was returning from a ride to Amboli Ghat with four friends when the accident occurred near Devarde Madal Titta around 11 a.m. He was riding a premium sports bike valued at ₹12 lakh, which collided head-on with a Tavera car on a sharp curve. Investigating officers suspect that excessive speed played a significant role in the crash.
According to sources, helmet camera footage—now in police possession—shows Siddhesh momentarily removing his hands from the handlebars twice just before the impact, while the bike continued moving at a dangerously high speed. The collision was so intense that his helmet, reportedly worth ₹70,000, shattered on impact. Siddhesh sustained critical injuries to his head, chest, and arms. Despite being rushed to a nearby private hospital by his friends, he was declared dead upon arrival.
