Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, Oct 17: – A major tragedy unfolded in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu as explosions at two fireworks factories resulted in the death of eleven workers, including nine women, with several others injured.

Reports from police sources indicate that ten workers, mostly women, were killed and two others suffered severe injuries in a massive inferno followed by explosions at the Kanishkar Fireworks Factory in Rangampalayam near Srivilliputhur. The workers were involved in mixing highly inflammable chemicals used in the production of fancy crackers when the tragic incident occurred.

In another unfortunate incident, one worker lost their life, and several others sustained injuries in a fire at a private cracker factory in Kitchanaickenpatti village near Sivakasi.

Firefighters promptly responded to both incidents, successfully extinguishing the blazes after a challenging battle lasting several hours. Senior revenue and police officials rushed to the factories to supervise rescue operations.
