Hyderabad, Nov 9: Telangana Police have confiscated assets worth over Rs 525 crores in their bid to enforce the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the November 30 state Assembly elections, sources said on Wednesday. The seizures encompass cash, liquor, precious metals, drugs, and freebies, the Telangana Electoral Office said in a press release.
The Model Code of Conduct came into effect on October 9 in preparation for the polls, covering 119 Assembly constituencies.
During this extensive enforcement operation, the police confiscated Cash amounting to Rs 1,79,86,72,675, liquor valued at Rs 69,18,22,040, Ganja and other drugs valued at Rs 31,14,36,364, precious metals, including gold, silver, diamonds Various freebies such as laptops, vehicles, cookers, sarees, with an estimated worth of Rs 2,44,91,59,467.
The cumulative seizures over the past 24 hours alone are estimated to be worth Rs 6,20,77,513.
The total cumulative seizures, which include cash, liquor, precious metals, drugs, and freebies, now amount to an estimated worth of Rs 525,10,90,546.
