Hyderabad, Dec 4 – The Telangana government has named senior IPS officer Ravi Gupta, of the 1990 batch, as the new Director General of Police (DGP) on Sunday.

The Election Commission suspended DGP Anjani Kumar Yadav on Sunday afternoon for violating the Election Code. Notices were also issued to two additional DGs, Sandeep Kumar Jain and Mahesh Bhagwat, for congratulating TPCC chief Revanth Reddy before the election results. Anjani Kumar Yadav is suspected to have discussed the issue of providing security to Revanth.

In light of these developments, the Election Commission directed the state government to appoint a new DGP for Telangana.

Following the EC’s orders, the government issued an official notice appointing Ravi Gupta as the new DGP. Ravi Gupta, being the senior police officer after Anjani Kumar Yadav, currently serves as the Director General of ACB along with the Vigilance and Enforcement Department.
