Srinagar, Nov 17: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, marked a significant milestone by inaugurating four Dal Lakefront projects in Srinagar. These projects, part of the Srinagar Smart City initiative, aim to enhance the city’s urban landscape and provide a better quality of life for residents.
The inaugurated projects include the Dal Lake Sunset Plaza, the Eco Park at Shalimar, a 9.30 km stretch of the right-side Walkway of Boulevard Road, and Phase-I of the Northern Foreshore Road Lakefront project.
Dal Lake Sunset Plaza: The Dal Lake Sunset Plaza is designed to be the first clear open space around Dal Lake, offering a picturesque environment for residents and tourists. With amenities such as interactive seating spaces, parking management, state-of-the-art illumination, and landscaping, the plaza creates a serene atmosphere. The project, developed at a cost of Rs 80 lakhs, also plans to introduce food kiosks through local start-ups.
Eco Park at Shalimar: The Eco Park at Shalimar, developed by the Jammu & Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority in convergence with Srinagar Municipal Corporation under the AMRUT mission, is designed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the surroundings. This project, executed at a cost of Rs 1.97 crore, provides a vibrant space for both tourists and locals along the pristine Dal Lake.
9.30 km Stretch of Boulevard Road: The 9.30 km stretch of the right-side walkway of Boulevard Road, spanning from Badyari Chowk to Nishat Bagh, comes with a budget of Rs 14.19 crore. The project offers facilities such as universal access, seating public plazas, and other amenities to enhance the overall experience for pedestrians and cyclists.
Phase-I of Northern Foreshore Road Lakefront Project: The Northern Foreshore Road Lakefront project, developed from Nishat to Naseem Bagh, marks Phase-I of the initiative. This project aims to create a serene ambiance for residents and visitors, with pedestrian walkways, cycling facilities, and open spaces around Dal Lake.
During the inauguration ceremony, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha applauded the Srinagar Smart City Limited team for their excellent city planning and execution. He emphasized that these projects signify the commitment to revive the historical social relationship of Srinagar city with its lakes and rivers.
The Dal Lakefront projects are expected to become unique and serene attractions for the city, providing opportunities to explore a soothing environment, creative urban life, scenic plazas, and charming spots for people to enjoy the rhythm of nature.
The projects were developed with the vision of promoting urban transformation, improving tourism, and boosting economic activities in the Union Territory. The Dal Lakefront initiatives align with the broader goal of enhancing the overall living experience for the residents of Srinagar.
