Jammu, Nov 6 : – Rajiv Chuni, Chairman of SOS International, addressed a gathering of Pakistan Occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) Displaced Persons (DPs) in Nowshera, calling for a decisive battle to secure their legitimate rights. Chuni urged the BJP-led Central government to fulfill the genuine demands of PoJK DPs before the upcoming Lok Sabha election or face the consequences of disgruntled voters.
Chuni emphasized the historical exploitation of PoJK DPs by political parties, accusing them of using the displaced community as a mere vote bank during elections without addressing their pressing concerns. He stressed the importance of unity among the displaced people to make a collective impact and compel the government to address their long-standing grievances.
The SOS International chairman warned the government that the PoJK DP community possesses the power of votes and should not be taken lightly. He called for a united front, suggesting that the displaced persons should either boycott the elections or vote for a political party that genuinely addresses their concerns.
Expressing disappointment with the Lok Sabha members representing Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Doda, Chuni criticized their failure to fulfill promises made to the PoJK DPs before the 2014 and 2019 elections. He also highlighted the lack of response from the Divisional Commissioner, appointed as the nodal officer to address the grievances of the displaced people.
Chuni outlined five major demands, including financial compensation, reservation in educational institutions, a job package for unemployed youth, legislative assembly seats reservation, and Pahari status for all PoJK displaced community members. He made it clear that the community would decide their electoral stance based on the government’s response to these demands.
In conclusion, Chuni called on PoJK DPs to make a collective decision before the elections, emphasizing that the community should not allow politicians to betray them with false promises.
