Srinagar, Nov 27 – In a significant development, security forces arrested a terrorist associate associated with the banned outfit Ansar Guzwat ul Hind (AGH) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. The arrest occurred during a checkpoint operation at Habdipora Shopian Crossing, where the individual, identified as Farman Khursheed Wani from Gagren Shopian, was intercepted.
During the search, the security forces discovered incriminating materials, along with arms and ammunition, including a pistol, two pistol magazines, 10 rounds of 9mm caliber, and a mobile phone in Wani’s possession. The checkpoint was jointly manned by the police, Army (44 RR), and CRPF (14th Bn).
Preliminary questioning revealed that Wani was working as a terrorist associate for the banned outfit AGH and had intentions to carry out attacks on security forces in the district. Subsequently, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law at the Police Station Shopian, and an investigation is underway to gather more details about the individual and his alleged involvement in terrorist activities. This arrest is a significant stride in the ongoing efforts of security forces to curb terrorism and maintain peace and stability in the region.
