While most farmers in Walwa taluka, Sangli, grow sugarcane, Uday Patil from Kasegaon decided to try something different—and it turned out to be a great success. By growing guavas instead of sugarcane, he now earns an impressive ₹20 lakh per year.

A Brave Decision to Try Something New

Sangli is known for its fertile soil and good water supply, making it ideal for sugarcane farming. But in 2018, Uday Patil decided to break tradition. He planted VNR Thailand guavas on his 1.5-acre farm and patiently took care of them for 18 months. His first harvest produced 15 tons of guavas, setting him on the path to success.

Smart Farming Techniques for Higher Profits

Uday didn’t stop at guavas—he also started intercropping with marigolds, which helped improve soil quality and increased his income. Now, his farm produces two guava harvests per year, yielding 35 tons annually.

He sells his high-quality guavas directly to traders, avoiding middlemen and earning better profits. Each guava weighs around 1 kg, and with a price of ₹60-₹65 per kg, his income keeps growing.

A Role Model for Other Farmers

By experimenting with new techniques and researching better farming methods, Uday has achieved consistent, high-quality guava production. His story proves that innovation in farming can bring great rewards.

Uday Patil’s journey shows that taking risks, working hard, and embracing change can lead to big success in modern farming. His shift from sugarcane to guavas has secured his financial future and inspired other farmers to think beyond traditional crops.
