Mumbai, Oct 27: Famous kirtan artiste Baba Maharaj Satarkar died of old age at his residence in Navi Mumbai on Thursday.
He breathed his last at age of 89 at his residence in Nerul.
Known worldwide as a veteran kirtan artist, he had preserved tradition of 500 years of service to the Varkari sect.
From his childhood, Baba Maharaj used to travel with his grandfather and parents and continued this streak even at age of 83.
From childhood, Baba Maharaj was trained and guided into this field by his grandfather Dada Maharaj.
Born on February 5, 1936 in Satara, Baba Maharaj started singing ‘kirtan’ at age of four and sang in style of Dada Maharaj.
As a grandson, Baba Maharaj tried to imbibe all good qualities of his grandfather.
