Damoh, Oct 28: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday made a veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi by alleging that certain Indian leaders have well comprehended that playing the religion card during elections directly translates into votes.

Priyanka’s comments came a day after Modi – while addressing a programme in Madhya Pradesh’s renowned pilgrim destination Chitrakoot – spoke of Ayodhya’s Ram temple approaching completion,
Addressing a rally in this district headquarters of poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, Priyanka averred, “You (the electorate) are grossly unaware that you have commenced a silsila (series) whose loss you are yourselves suffering. What is this silsila? When they speak of dharm (religion), you become emotionally associated with them. You have to scotch this vicious cycle.”

The visiting leader narrated that she has been to villages that are without electricity, water and even food.
“I once asked a local woman that when basic amenities are not being provided, why are you adamant about casting your vote on the basis of religion? She finally comprehended the logic behind my words,” Priyanka added
