Mulugu, Oct 19: Addressing a public gathering named “Congress Vijaya Bheri” in Mulugu, AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi emphasized that the Congress party must assume power in Telangana to realize the aspirations of its people. During the event held on Wednesday evening, she highlighted the commitment of leaders like Sonia Gandhi, who granted statehood to Telangana, respecting the desires of its people.

Priyanka Gandhi expressed disappointment that the expectations of social justice, employment opportunities, and improved conditions for farmers following the formation of the state were not met by the current government. She underscored the Congress party’s historical commitment to long-term benefits and its comprehensive development roadmap for Telangana.

Accusing the alliance between BRS and BJP, she alleged that the BRS, controlled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, engaged in land mafia, sand mafia, and liquor mafia activities. Priyanka Gandhi criticized the concentration of portfolios in the hands of KCR’s family members and the under-representation of the Backward Class in the cabinet.

Calling for a caste-wise census for equitable treatment, she asserted that without knowledge of the population, justice for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and the Backward Class is impossible.

Former AICC president Rahul Gandhi echoed Priyanka’s sentiments, framing the elections as a choice between the Telangana of the elite and the Telangana of the people. He lauded Congress’s past commitments and achievements in various states.

TPCC President A. Revanth Reddy expressed frustration with the KCR government, emphasizing Congress’s role in fulfilling the aspirations of the people after a wait of 60 years. He announced promises, including cash and gold under welfare schemes if the party comes to power.

Mulugu MLA Sitakka accused the BRS of copying the Congress manifesto and criticized its alleged exacerbation of the plight of the impoverished.

This gathering highlighted the Congress party’s push to reclaim power in Telangana, emphasizing its commitment to addressing the needs and aspirations of the people.
