Priyanka Chopra Returns to Indian Cinema with ₹30 Crore Record-Breaking Fee
India’s highest-paid actress, Priyanka Chopra, is set to make her comeback to Indian films after nearly six years. She will star in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming movie alongside Mahesh Babu, marking her return to South Indian cinema after more than two decades.
According to Bollywood Hungama, Priyanka is being paid a massive ₹30 crore for the role, making her the highest-paid Indian actress ever for a single film.
A New Record in Indian Cinema
A source revealed that Priyanka stood firm on her fee, which delayed the official announcement. “Why should only male actors get double-digit salaries in our films?” the source questioned.
Before this, Deepika Padukone held the record for the highest fee for an Indian actress, earning ₹20 crore for her role in Kalki 2898 AD. Other leading actresses earn less:
- Alia Bhatt – ₹15 crore per film
- Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Samantha Ruth Prabhu – ₹10 crore or more per film
Priyanka’s Journey in Hollywood and Indian Cinema
Since moving to the US in 2015, Priyanka has appeared in very few Indian films. After Jai Gangaajal (2016), she starred in just one Bollywood movie, The Sky Is Pink (2019).
She has been busy with international projects like Citadel, The White Tiger, The Matrix Resurrections, and Love Again. This year, she will also star in Heads of State, alongside Idris Elba and John Cena.
However, her role in SSMB29 (the working title for Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s film) is expected to be her biggest comeback to Indian cinema yet.
