Mumbai, Dec 4 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to grace Maharashtra today, December 4, to inaugurate a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot Fort in the Malvan coastal area, according to official sources on Saturday.
The Prime Minister will also be a part of the ‘Navy Day-2023’ celebrations in Sindhudurg, joining Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other dignitaries for the event. The celebrations will feature operational demonstrations by Indian Navy ships, submarines, aircraft, and special forces, showcasing their capabilities from the scenic Tarkarli Beach.
Navy Day, observed annually on Dec. 4, will pay homage to the maritime legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (1630-1680), known for constructing several coastal and sea forts, including the iconic Sindhudurg Fort.
The Prime Minister’s visit underscores the importance of preserving maritime heritage and acknowledges the enduring contributions of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the coastal defenses of the region.
