Hyderabad, Dec 13 – Oman Air has launched its inaugural freighter services connecting Muscat and Hyderabad International Airport. The new service, operating twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays with a Boeing B737-800BCF, is expected to boost the export of pharmaceuticals, hatching eggs, and agricultural products. With a one-way capacity of 22 metric tons, the freighter will contribute an additional 88 metric tons of weekly capacity from Hyderabad Airport.
The connection is anticipated to facilitate enhanced trade opportunities for businesses in the region, linking diverse industries and markets.
CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited, Pradeep Panicker, expressed enthusiasm about the potential impact on the local economy, expecting increased exports of hatching eggs and pharmaceuticals. The Middle East, particularly Oman, serves as a significant importer of hatching eggs from India, and this new connection is poised to strengthen trade ties, providing a transshipment base for exports to the US and Europe.
Additionally, the freighter service is anticipated to boost the export of fruits and vegetables from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to the Middle East, leveraging the extensive hatchery infrastructure in Hyderabad. The strategic addition of this cargo route reflects Oman Air’s commitment to expanding its global connectivity and supporting regional economic development.
