Notorious rowdy Komban shot dead in police encounter in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu

Tiruchirapalli (Tamil Nadu), Nov 23: Notorious rowdy M. Jegan, also known as Komban (30), met his end in a police encounter at the Sanamangalam forest area near Manachanallur in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, on Wednesday. Jegan, wanted in a dozen cases, including two murders, had been evading arrest. Acting on a tip-off about his presence in the forest area, a special police team led by Inspector S. Karunakaran attempted to apprehend him.

During the operation, Komban attacked Sub-Inspector Vinod Kumar with a sickle and attempted to escape. In self-defense, Inspector Karunakaran fired two rounds, resulting in Komban’s immediate demise. The body was sent to the Government Hospital at Lalgudi for post-mortem examination, while the injured Sub-Inspector was admitted for treatment.

Superintendent of Police V. Varun Kumar visited the encounter site and conducted an inquiry. The incident remains under investigation as authorities seek to piece together the details surrounding the encounter.
