Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Oct 28: – The local branch of the Maharashtra Superstition Eradication Committee (MSEC) has called for legal action against Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, also known as Bageshwar Baba, accusing him of making false claims of miracles. In a memorandum addressed to Union Minister of State for Finance Dr. Bhagwat Karad and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) Masood Khan in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the MSEC asserts that action should be taken against the self-proclaimed spiritual guru under the Anti-witchcraft Act and similar laws.

The memorandum highlights Bageshwar Baba’s purported claims of being blessed by Bageshwar Dham, Bajrangbali, and Balaji, as well as his alleged practice of performing miracles in front of large crowds in the name of spirituality. The MSEC argues that such actions lead people into superstition and are inconsistent with the scientific approach valued in the Constitution as a fundamental duty of every Indian citizen.

Promotional hoardings for Bageshwar Baba’s upcoming program scheduled from November 6 to 8 in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar have been displayed prominently in the city. The MSEC insists on strict legal action against him and demands that the event be prevented from taking place in the city.

In the event that political pressure allows the program to proceed, the MSEC advocates for comprehensive video recording of the entire event. Following scrutiny of the recording, legal action should be taken against Dhirendra Shastri Baba in accordance with the law, the statement concludes.”
