Mumbai, Oct 12: Ambadas Danve, the leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, accused the state government of endangering lives by not procuring any medicine during 2022-23. Danve asserted that this lack of procurement has led to a shortage of medicines in the state.

In the fiscal year 2022-23, a contract of Rs 108 crore for drug procurement was awarded to Haffikin Jeev Pharmaceuticals Corporation. However, only Rs 50 crores have been provided to Haffkin. Danve expressed concern, stating that he received information indicating that no company would purchase the drug without receiving full payment.

Highlighting the financial allocation, Danve criticized the government for spending Rs 150 crore on advertisements while neglecting to pay for medicine purchases. Additionally, he raised objections to the appointment of IPS officer Rashmi Shukla as the state’s Director General of Police.”
