Nagpur, Dec 8 – Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday appealed to the citizens to participate in national service by making maximum contribution in flag day fund collection and announced to donate one month’s salary for Flag Day fund collection.
The Chief Minister also announced to donate one month’s salary for Flag Day fund collection.
The Flag Day fund collection organised by District Soldier Welfare Office at Ramgiri was inaugurated by Chief Minister on Thursday.
Divisional Commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidri, Collector Dr Vipin Itankar, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Saumya Sharma, and District Soldier Welfare Officer Major Dr Shilpa Kharpkar were also present.
The Chief Minister said, “Hum Kare Rashtra Aradhan Tan Se, Man Se, Dhan Se, Jeevan Se” Every Indian needs to contribute to his country. Soldiers are deployed around the clock to protect the country. The contribution of soldiers is also important in the progress of the country, he added. The Flag Day fund-raising initiative, which provides an opportunity to contribute towards the welfare of the army, has been going on in the state for many years.
Shinde appealed to the citizens to come forward in large numbers to contribute to the Flag Day fund collection to express their gratitude to the soldiers.
India is becoming self-reliant in the defense sector. India, which used to be a buyer of defense materials, has now become a seller of defense materials.
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the father of Indian armor, at Sindhudurg Fort, said the Chief Minister.
Shinde said that he had the privilege of unveiling the equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Kupwara, on the border of Jammu and Kashmir. Nagpur district was felicitated by the chief minister for collecting 185 percent more than the target given in the Flag Day fund collection.
