Mumbai, Oct 4: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday directed insurance companies that the companies should render help sensitively and positively while paying compensation to farmers of the state through crop insurance scheme.

Presiding over a review meeting held regarding implementation of Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme for kharif crops at official Varsha bungalow, he said that at a time when farmers in the state are suffering due to absence of rains in August, the state government is standing firm to provide relief to them, he noted.

He asked insurance companies to stand by the farmers who have suffered losses during this time.
Therefore, the role of helping farmers should be taken sensitively and positively when they are in crisis, he added.
