Mumbai, Oct 4: In a significant move, the Maharashtra cabinet has granted approval for a scholarship scheme aimed at facilitating the higher education of exceptionally talented students from minority communities in renowned overseas academic institutions. The decision was formalized during the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.
Under the approved scheme, 27 students annually will benefit from scholarships designed to support their pursuit of post-graduate or PhD courses. The eligibility criteria for these scholarships include securing unconditional admission to an overseas academic institution featured within the top 200 of the QS World Ranking. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to nurturing academic excellence among students from minority communities.
An allocation of Rs 10.80 crore has been earmarked for the implementation of this scholarship scheme, underlining the state’s dedication to investing in the education and future of bright individuals. This move is expected to not only empower deserving students but also contribute to the global representation of talent from Maharashtra’s minority communities.
