Mumbai, Oct 4: The board of directors of Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) Limited on Wednesday resolved that MADC can and will act as a nodal agency for construction of helipads and air ambulance facilities wherever necessary in the state.
The decision was taken in 85th meeting of the board of directors of the company held at the Varsha
government residence of the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who reviewed various airport development works including Shirdi, Amravati and Karad, directed that night landing facilities should be made available at airports or runways in the state if possible.
He said that in case of an accident on Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samriddhi Highway or Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai-Pune Expressway, helicopter facility will be useful for immediate help and rescue operation.
Apart from this, the Chief Minister underscored the need for Air Ambulance service for patient care and asked officials concerned to coordinate with the companies providing such facilities.
