New Delhi, Nov 9 – In a recent development, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey claimed that Lokpal has ordered a CBI probe into the cash-for-query scandal involving TMC MP Mahua Moitra.
Taking to social media, Nishikant Dubey stated, “Lokpal today, on my complaint, ordered a CBI inquiry into the corruption of accused MP Mahua ji by mortgaging national security.”
Responding to Dubey’s tweet, Mahua Moitra remarked, “CBI welcome to come, count my shoes.”
Moitra further elaborated in an article on X, emphasizing that CBI needs to first file an FIR in the alleged ₹13,000 crore Adani coal scam. She raised concerns about national security, pointing out the involvement of foreign portfolio investors, including Chinese and UAE entities, in Adani firms acquiring Indian ports and airports with clearance from the home ministry.
Meanwhile, the CBI has declined to comment on the ongoing investigation against Mahua Moitra.
The allegations against Moitra revolve around her purported involvement in asking questions in Lok Sabha to target Gautam Adani at the behest of businessman Darshan Hiranandani. Moitra has denied taking bribes but admitted to sharing her parliamentary log-in details with Hiranandani.
On the complaint filed by Nishikant Dubey, the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee is currently probing charges against the TMC MP. Opposition members of the panel boycotted the first meeting, accusing the Chairperson of asking indecent and unethical questions to Moitra. The Ethics Committee chief denied the charges, accusing opposition members of trying to help Moitra “evade real questions” related to the case.
