Kolhapur, Dec 16 – Bidri cooperative sugar factory in the district has announced the highest FRP (fixed remunerative price) of Rs 3,407 for per tonne sugarcane in entire Maharashtra for this year’s crushing season.
Former MLA K P Patil, who retained his hold over the mill by winning all 25 seats in election recently, was re-elected as new chairman of the factory in first meeting of elected body under presidentship of election officer Arun Kakade on Friday.
After being elected as the chairmanship, Patil announced FRP of Rs 3,407 for per tonne sugarcane, which is said to be the highest rate in the state.
Last year, Bidri factory had announced FRP of Rs 3,209 for per tonne sugarcane for 12.62 per cent recovery of the sugarcane.
Notably, farmers leader Raju Shetty of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana had also staged an agitation recently, demanding higher FRP for per tonne sugarcane for this year’s crushing season.
