Jejuri Celebrates Mahashivratri with Devotion as Triloki Shivling is Unveiled
Jejuri, known for its famous Lord Khandoba temple, celebrated Mahashivratri with great devotion on Wednesday. Early in the morning, the sacred Triloki Shivling at Khandoba Fort was unveiled for devotees.
From dawn, thousands of worshippers gathered, chanting “Har Har Mahadev” and “Yelkot Sadanand,” filling Malhargad with spiritual energy. This festival is an important part of Jejuri’s Khanderaya Yatra, during which three sacred Shivlings—Swargaloki (celestial), Patalaloki (subterranean), and Bhuloki (earthly)—are revealed. The Swargaloki and Patalaloki Shivlings are opened only on Mahashivratri and remain closed for the rest of the year.
A grand Mahapuja was performed in the temple, attended by priests, temple trustees, and devotees. Darshan of the Triloki Shivling started at 3 AM, drawing a massive crowd. The temple trust, including officials like Abhijit Devkate, Adv. Vishwas Panse, and Dr. Rajendra Khedekar, made sure everything ran smoothly.
As part of the celebrations, Khichdi prasad was distributed to devotees from morning until late in the day.
