Pune, Oct 3: Dr Dhananjay Kelkar, Medical director and trustee of Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital, on Tuesday inaugurated the health care-related services at the Seva Bhavan project of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Jankalyan Samiti here.
The Seva Bhavan project has been jointly built by Jankalyan Samiti and Dr Hedgewar Smarak Seva Nidhi.
The Seva Bhavan has a public welfare dialysis centre and self-care facilities for 18 patients. There is also accommodation facility available for their relatives.
The Jankalyan health advice, guidance, counselling centre has also been started under the project. All these services are available at minimal cost.
Apart from these, a volunteer training centre has also been made operational.
Speaking on occasion, Dr Kelkar suggested that hospitals, run by government and charitable trusts, have a big role to play in patient care and called for increasing the number of charitable hospitals.
He demanded that the government should come up with a legislation to ban the commission practice in the medical profession and reduce the cost of medical education.
He expressed hope that the society should give maximum funds for the health and education and also
strengthen the hands of organisations like Jankalyan Samiti.
