Jalna, Nov 4: In a significant move, Jalna District Magistrate Srikrishna Panchal distributed Kunbi certificates to three youths on Friday, marking the commencement of the process to grant Other Backward Class (OBC) certification to members of the Maratha community in Maharashtra.
Expressing their satisfaction, the youths conveyed gratitude to the government, as mentioned in an official press statement. A committee led by retired Justice Sandeep Shinde visited Jalna district on October 12 to review the records of the Kunbi community. The committee scrutinized documents in various government offices and citizens’ submissions in the collector’s office, submitting its report to the state government.
The preliminary report, accepted in a recent state cabinet meeting under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s leadership, prompted the immediate distribution of caste certificates to those providing proof of Kunbi registration.
