Pune, Nov 27 – To mark the 144th birth anniversary of spiritual guru Sadhu Vaswani, the International Meatless Day was observed with millions of individuals and several organisations pledging to abstain from all foods of violence.
Also, a weeklong service activities and celebrations were organised by the Sadhu Vaswani Mission and its educational institutions.
The sessions featured recorded discourses by Sadhu Vaswani and Dada J P Vaswani, and live talks by Didi Krishna Kumari, said a press release here on Sunday.
In a daylong programmes held on November 25, people from across the city and beyond and abroad had gathered to mark the celebrations.
The first session began with the kindling of the holy havan fire accompanied by devotional renditions by Didi Krishna Kumari. Following the session, guru langar – fellowship meals were served.
The evening session included live telecasts of recorded discourses by Sadhu Vaswani and Dada J P Vaswani.
The day concluded with bhajans and kirtan renditions that continued until midnight late on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, service activities included bird feeding, animal sevas, distribution of ration kits to poor and needy families, clothes to 454 children of construction labourers, joy packets and geometry boxes to poor children in schools, artificial limbs were distributed to 31 beneficiaries, 900 transgenders in Budhwar Peth and 100 in red light area were given new sarees, apples and Solapuri chaddar were given to poor patients in Inlaks & Budhrani hospitals.
Besides, Mission’s healthcare institutions also offered concessions in diagnostics and treatments.
Also, national and international Sadhu Vaswani Centres had organised ‘satsangs’ and carried out service activities, the release added.
