Dehradun, Oct 27 – Construction Commences on India’s Longest Ropeway Linking Dehradun and Mussoorie

Mussoorie Sky Car Company Pvt. Ltd, led by FIL Industries Private Ltd in collaboration with POMA SAS France and SRM Engineering LLP, has initiated the construction of India’s longest ropeway system spanning 5.5 km, connecting the twin cities of Dehradun and Mussoorie. The Rs 300 crore mono-cable ropeway project is scheduled for completion in September 2026.

This innovative ropeway is set to significantly reduce the travel time between Dehradun and Mussoorie, trimming down the 33-km driving distance to a mere 15 minutes. Equipped with 10-seater cabins, a first in India, the ropeway will have enclosed, fully ventilated, glazed cabins with automatic opening and closing doors, initially accommodating up to 1300 passengers per hour per direction. Operating year-round, regardless of weather conditions, the all-weather ropeway aims to alleviate traffic congestion during peak seasons for locals and tourists.

Owais Altaf Syed, Group Director of FIL Industries Limited, expressed excitement about launching this mega ropeway project in Uttarakhand, highlighting its potential to boost employment, generate revenue for the state, and attract tourists globally. FIL Industries Pvt. Ltd. has a successful track record in sustainable tourism destinations, exemplified by their Skyview by Empyrean project in Patnitop, Jammu.

The Mussoorie-Dehradun ropeway project aligns with FIL’s commitment to promoting responsible tourism and modern urban mobility solutions. Beyond transportation, the initiative envisions integrated infrastructure development, including hospitality, food and beverages, and retail facilities, fostering economic growth in both Dehradun and Mussoorie.
