May 26, 2025 — Indian Railways has made it simpler for passengers to correct or update names on confirmed e-tickets booked through the IRCTC platform. This new facility aims to reduce hassle and eliminate long queues at reservation counters.

Passengers who have mistakenly entered the wrong name during booking or wish to transfer their ticket to a close family member can now request a name change either online or offline. However, the name correction can be done only once per ticket.

Online Process

Travelers can log in to their IRCTC accounts, select the “Change Boarding Point and Passenger Name Request” option, download and fill the request form, and upload it back for processing. This streamlined approach ensures quick and convenient corrections without visiting railway offices.

Offline Process

Alternatively, passengers can visit the nearest railway reservation counter at least 24 hours before the train departure. They must bring a printed copy of the ticket, original ID proof, and a photocopy for verification to request the name change or ticket transfer.

This initiative is expected to improve passenger convenience and flexibility, especially for those needing to transfer tickets within family members. Indian Railways continues to enhance user experience with such passenger-friendly measures.
