India Celebrates Navy Day 2024: PM Modi Honors Indian Navy’s Bravery and Dedication

On Indian Navy Day 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi saluted the courage and dedication of the Indian Navy for protecting the nation’s maritime borders and celebrating India’s rich naval heritage.

PM Modi’s Message

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “On Navy Day, we salute the valiant personnel of the Indian Navy who protect our seas with unmatched courage and dedication.” He highlighted the Navy’s critical role in ensuring India’s security and prosperity.

Why Navy Day is Celebrated

Navy Day, observed every year on December 4, marks the success of Operation Trident during the 1971 India-Pakistan War. This operation, targeting Karachi’s port, was a historic moment for India’s Navy, showcasing its growing strength.

The day also honors the hard work of naval personnel in safeguarding India’s coasts, securing trade routes, and promoting peace in the Indian Ocean region.

Strengthening the Navy

Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi shared updates on the Navy’s modernization efforts, with a ₹90,000 crore upgrade plan underway. Key projects include:

  • A deal for 26 Rafale Marine combat aircraft, expected to be finalized by January 2024.
  • Construction of three additional Scorpene-class submarines, built in partnership with France’s Naval Group at Mazagon Dockyards Limited.

These developments reflect India’s focus on boosting its maritime defense while strengthening global partnerships.

Building a Secure Maritime Future

With these advancements, India aims to maintain a strong naval presence, ensure safe trade routes, promote regional stability, and protect national interests. Navy Day serves as a reminder of the Navy’s vital contributions to the country’s security and progress.
