New Delhi, December 18, 2024 – Delhi Customs officials seized gold worth over ₹91 lakh in two separate smuggling attempts at the IGI Airport on Sunday. Both incidents involved passengers arriving from Riyadh.

In the first case, a male passenger was found hiding 300 grams of gold bars (worth ₹22.2 lakh) inside an adaptor. X-ray scans revealed the hidden gold, and officials broke open the adaptor with a hammer to retrieve the bars.
In the second case, two men from Uttar Pradesh, aged 41 and 36, were stopped based on intelligence. During a detailed search, officials discovered gold paste hidden in specially designed pouches inside their undergarments. The gold paste was extracted and found to weigh 931.57 grams, worth ₹68.92 lakh.
Both cases are being investigated, and the gold has been seized under the Customs Act, 1962. The passengers involved were arrested for smuggling.
