Mahoba, Oct 25: Four police personnel, including a Sub-Inspector (SI), were suspended on Tuesday after an undertrial issued threats to his rivals on a social media platform while being taken to the court in police custody, a police officer said here.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Satyam said that undertrial Lokendra Singh alias Kartoos Yadav, who is lodged in Mahoba jail, was sent to Hamirpur to appear before the court in connection with a case. “An SI and three constables from the police line were assigned the duty of guarding the undertrial in this vehicle,” he said.

He said that it has been alleged that while being taken to Hamirpur Lokendra streamed a video on his Facebook account and threatened his rivals. “The undertrial’s video went viral on social media,” he said.

The ASP said that after finding the police personnel prima facie guilty in the case, SI Shashank Dev Shukla, constables Arvind Arya, Kaushalendra Mishra and Kamlesh Kumar have been suspended with immediate effect for negligence in performing their duty. “A case has been registered against accused Lokendra Yadav for criminal intimidation in Mahoba Sadar Kotwali,” he said.

He said that a detailed inquiry into the incident has been ordered and it is being probed who provided the phone to the undertrial.
