Jalaun (UP), Dec 18 – Four persons, including three members of a family, were killed and several others injured when a pickup overturned after being hit by a dumper in Orai town of Jalaun district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said on Monday.

Police sources said that Durvasa Yadav alias Lalu, a resident of Mohana village under Dakore and a teacher in a coaching institute, along with his students and family had gone to pay obeisance at Pitambara temple in Datia district of Madhya Pradesh.

Police sources said that on Sunday night while Durvasa and others were returning back the pickup in which they were travelling was hit by the dumper near Kaithari toll plaza.

“After being hit by the dumper the pickup overturned and around 16 people were injured in the incident,” they said.

Police sources said that the injured were taken to the medical college where Durvasa’s son Anuruddh (2), wife Priyanka Devi (28), mother Munni Devi (50) and student Nancy (16) succumbed to injuries.

“Durvasa, who sustained serious injuries, has been referred to a higher center in Jhansi for treatment,” they said.
