
Badaun, Nov 2: The police has filed a charge sheet against Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former MP Dharmendra Yadav and 36 others in an MP-MLA court in a case related to violation of the Model Code of Conduct and the Epidemic Act during Uttar Pradesh assembly elections last year, police sources said here.
In-charge of Civil Lines police station Gaurav Bishnoi said that after completing investigation the police has filed a charge sheet against 37 people, including former SP MP Dharmendra Yadav, the then party candidate Haji Raees Ahmad. He said that the charge sheet has been admitted by the court.
Police sources said that on February 3, 2022 the then Sub Divisional Magistrate Sukhlal Prasad Verma, who was officiating as the returning officer in the assembly polls, lodged a complaint that SP candidate from Sadar seat Haji Raees Ahmad and former MP Dharmendra Yadav held an event without taking permission from the competent authorities.
Police sources said that it was alleged that the event was attended by around Shiksha Mitras, instructors and semi-government employees, who were receiving honorarium from the government. It was stated that along with the MCC, provisions of Epidemic Act and Disaster Management Act were also violated while organising the event.
Police sources said that on the basis of the complaint lodged by the SDM, a case was lodged against 37 people, including former MP Dharmendra Yadav.
