Kochi, Oct 21: A workshop on Matsya Sampada Jagrukta Abhiyan (MSJA) will be organized at the National Institute of Fisheries Post-Harvest Technology and Training (NIFPHATT) here on October 23.
Mr Sagar Mehra, Joint Secretary (Inland fisheries and Administration), Department of Fisheries, Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying will inaugurate the Workshop.
S. Mahesh, Joint Director (Central Zone), Dept. of Fisheries, Kerala will make a presentation on the implementation of fisheries development schemes through PMMSY in Kerala.
M. Shaji, Former Joint Director (Aquaculture), MPEDA and Consultant, NFDB will speak on ‘Aquaculture Technologies under PMMSY scheme in Kerala – Methods for successful implementation.’
Dr. Zynudheen A. A., Head & Principal Scientist, QAM Division, CIFT, Kochi will make a presentation on ‘Initiatives of CIFT in Start-ups/Entrepreneurship in relation to PMMSY’.
K. Kamalraj, Processing Technologist, NIFPHATT will talk about NIFPHATT’s intervention in value addition and capacity building with reference to PMMSY.
Ms Maja Jose, Deputy Director (Training), Dept. of Fisheries, Kerala will lead the interaction with stakeholders. The stakeholders will also share their success stories during the Session.
Fishers, fishermen representatives, fish-farmers, entrepreneurs, fishermen cooperative society leaders, professionals, scientists and other stakeholders will join the interactions at the MSJA Workshop.
It will provide a platform to disseminate and showcase valuable information, best practices and the latest advancements in fisheries and aquaculture techniques, modern and innovative fish farming technologies, fish processing and value addition.
This will encourage the adoption of advanced practices leading to increased efficiency and profitability. It will also promote responsible fisheries management, sustainable aquaculture and the overall well-being of the communities dependent on this crucial sector.
The Department of Fisheries launched the “Matsya Sampada Jagrukta Abhiyan” from September 2023 to February 2024 for sustained and larger outreach at the grass root level across the country.
