Jammu, Dec 5 – Police have arrested three individuals involved in a drug supply module operating within Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, situated on the outskirts of Jammu city. The arrests came after the discovery of narcotics, resembling heroin, concealed in capsules and a pen drive during routine searches. The incidents prompted the formation of a special team, led by SDPO Akhnoor Mohan Sharma, SHO Akhnoor Zaheer Mushtaq, and SHO Gharota Joginder Singh, to investigate the matter.

The police received information about the discovery of a cosco ball containing narcotics on November 11, and a subsequent incident on November 28 raised concerns. The special team, using human intelligence and technical data collected from the jail periphery, conducted a survey of recent jail inmates. As a result, three individuals were arrested from different locations in Jammu.

The arrested individuals were identified as Rahul Kumar alias Sundi from Bishnah, Rahul Kumar alias Daku from Kothi Khour, Mira Sahib, and Arjun Kumar alias Shotu from Koliyan, R S Pura. Two sharp-edged weapons and a vehicle were recovered from their possession. During questioning, the accused confessed to their involvement in the crimes.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities anticipate more arrests in the coming days. The incidents highlight the challenges of preventing illegal activities within sensitive locations like prisons.
